The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, has made an appeal for more support and assistance from members of the National Assembly.
He emphasized that such assistance is vital as the NYSC continues to make significant contributions to the nation’s development. Brigadier General YD Ahmed conveyed his belief that this cooperation would allow the NYSC to build upon the accomplishments it has achieved over the past 50 years.
Brigadier General YD Ahmed expressed these sentiments during his advocacy visits to the newly appointed Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth Development, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, Honourable Martins Esin. These visits took place in Abuja as the Director-General sought to establish a closer working relationship with these officials.
During his separate meetings with both lawmakers, held in Abuja, the Director-General congratulated them on their appointments as chairs of committees responsible for youth-related matters in the country. He affirmed that the NYSC remains steadfast in its commitment to contributing to national unity, socio-economic progress, youth empowerment, wealth creation, and other crucial aspects of development.
The Director-General stressed the importance of establishing a stronger bond with lawmakers to ensure that the concerns of youth in Nigeria are given appropriate attention and priority.
In response, Senator Adaramodu and Honourable Esin each assured the Director-General of their commitment to providing all necessary support to create a conducive environment for the NYSC to carry out its mandate effectively.
