The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has appointed Olufemi Oladapo Soneye as its new Chief Corporate Communications Officer. This appointment follows a significant reorganization that led to the involuntary resignation of more than 90 top management staff at NNPC, with less than 15 months remaining until their statutory retirement.
The company announced this appointment in a statement issued by its management on Wednesday. Soneye will be taking over the role previously held by Garba Deen Muhammad.
The statement reads, “We are pleased to introduce Mr. Soneye as our Chief Corporate Communications Officer. A seasoned journalist with extensive experience in both full-time and freelance capacities at some of the world’s most reputable publications in Nigeria, Australia, and the United States of America, Mr. Soneye will lead our Corporate Communications team. He will be responsible for advancing our brand’s reach, managing strategic communication initiatives, and overseeing stakeholder engagement.
Mr. Soneye is a member of various distinguished organizations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Guild of Corporate Online Media Publishers. He also served as the former President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners, Washington, D.C. We eagerly anticipate his valuable contributions to our company.”
