Nnamdi Kanu’s family has released a statement declaring that Barrister Aloy Ejimakor remains the Special Counsel to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). This comes in response to a previous statement by IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful, who claimed that Ejimakor had been sacked as the leader’s Special Counsel.
According to the family’s press release, the recent announcement by Emma Powerful is false and defamatory. They clarify that Ejimakor recently met with Nnamdi Kanu on July 24, 2023, during which the leader issued a direct order through Ejimakor to terminate the Sit-At-Home. The family emphasizes that Ejimakor was hired by Nnamdi Kanu in 2017, and not by the Department of State of IPOB (DOS), which Powerful claimed to represent.
The family accuses the DOS of jealousy and envy towards Ejimakor, pointing out that he effectively delivered the order to end the Sit-At-Home, a task the DOS failed to accomplish despite several opportunities given by Nnamdi Kanu. They assert that Ejimakor’s recent remarks in an AriseTV interview were taken out of context, and the DOS is twisting his words to justify their actions against him.
They also question the DOS’s assertion that some followers of Simon Ekpa are misguided supporters of Nnamdi Kanu, arguing that the DOS is driven by jealousy, envy, and twisted tendencies. The family highlights that Ejimakor has achieved significant victories since being retained by Nnamdi Kanu in 2017.
