In Katsina State, Air Force personnel conducted an air operation that resulted in the death of at least 22 terrorists, including foot soldiers of the notorious terrorist leader Abdulkareen Lawal, also known as Abdulkareen Boss. This operation was carried out based on intelligence received by the troops.
Abdulkareen Boss was allegedly involved in the killing of a Nigerian Police Area Commander in Dutsin Ma on July 5, 2022. He and some of his foot soldiers were targeted and killed in the Ruga forest in Katsina on August 5, 2022.
According to a military source, the air strikes were executed in response to credible intelligence reports linking the terrorists to numerous abductions and violent attacks in communities within Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), confirmed the air strikes. He also mentioned that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has been directing air component commanders to collaborate with other security agencies to target terrorists’ hideouts since assuming office.
