Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has hired the services of the renowned legal expert, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), to lead his legal team in the appeal to reclaim his mandate at the Court of Appeal.
A copy of the notice of appeal, made available to journalists on Friday, confirms that Olanipekun, who previously headed President Bola Tinubu’s legal team at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), is now Governor Yusuf’s counsel.
Other members of the governor’s legal team include Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru, and Akintola Makinde, with Wole Olanipekun & Co serving as the legal firm handling the appeal.
Meanwhile, Chief E.O.B. Offiong (APC) continues to represent the APC.
It should be noted that the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had previously invalidated Yusuf’s victory on the platform of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) and declared Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election. In response, Yusuf filed a 42-ground appeal before the appellate court, seeking to overturn the tribunal’s decision and dismiss the APC’s petition.
