American actress and talk show host, Jada Pinkett Smith, has officially announced her separation from her husband, actor Will Smith.
In a forthcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb, the 52-year-old revealed that she and the ‘Bad Boys For Life’ actor have been leading completely separate lives since 2016. Although they are not legally divorced, they have been living apart for seven years.
Pinkett Smith explained that while they hadn’t gone public with their separation earlier, it was, in essence, a divorce since 2016. The couple, who tied the knot in 1997 and have two children, Jaden and Willow, decided to reveal their separation at this time.
In July 2020, singer August Alsina disclosed his romantic involvement with Pinkett Smith, which she later confirmed during an episode of “Red Table Talk.” She clarified that their marriage was going through a very challenging period when she became entangled with artist August Alsina.
