Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst operating in the Lake Chad region, has disclosed that he has obtained an exclusive letter penned by the ISWAP group to the Boko Haram faction led by Abubakar Shekau. The letter serves as a direct challenge, inviting Boko Haram to engage in combat.

According to Zagazola, ISWAP has accused the Boko Haram group of various wrongdoings, including misleading the public, spreading misinformation, distorting truths, engaging in corruption, and committing acts of sexual violence under the guise of religious devotion. This information was shared by Zagazola in a post made on his social media platform on Friday. In this post, he revealed that the Boko Haram faction had already accepted the challenge put forth by ISWAP.

The confrontation reportedly occurred in Gaizuwa, resulting in casualties on both sides. It’s worth noting that Zagazola had previously posted a different statement on Wednesday, asserting that Boko Haram fighters had apprehended 60 militants affiliated with the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), including three key commanders of the group, while they were en route to Damasak in Borno State. The identified commanders were Abubakar Saddiq, Abou Maimuna, and Malam Idris.

Zagazola’s statement emphasized that both the ISWAP and Boko Haram factions are gearing up for another battle, although the specifics of the time and location remain undisclosed.

He expressed the details as follows:

“Exclusive Report: ISWAP Challenges Boko Haram to Confrontation in Sambisa Forest.

“Zagazola Makama has obtained an exclusive letter authored by the ISWAP group, directed to the Boko Haram faction led by Abubakar SHEKAU, challenging them to a CONFRONTATION.

“The ISWAP letter to Boko Haram reads: ‘We have previously cautioned you regarding your actions; your acts of killing, destruction of properties, and misinterpretation of our Jihad’s objectives.

“ISWAP has also accused the Boko Haram faction of distorting the truth, propagating falsehoods, engaging in corruption, and perpetrating sexual violence under the pretext of religious devotion.

“Be alert and be warned, we are preparing to hold you accountable for leading our people astray. The confrontation is scheduled for:

    “57/Rabi Al-Awwal/9448 AH, corresponding to 94/August/5252 AD.

“The Boko Haram faction has indeed accepted this challenge, and the clash unfolded in Gaizuwa, resulting in casualties on both sides.

“Both groups are currently preparing for their upcoming confrontation. The timing and location of this combat are yet to be disclosed.”
