Six days after the presidential election, the Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 155,472 results from 176,846 polling units.
This figure represents 88% of all polling unit results.
The electronic transmission of results was still ongoing at the time of submitting this report.
Nigerians expected the election results to be uploaded on Election Day, as promised by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
Nevertheless, INEC was criticized for failing to upload results to its viewing portal, which led in a walkout by some party agents on Monday at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
It was observed on Friday that the results of all polling units had yet to be submitted to INEC’s website.
According to the Commission, the governing All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu, received 8.8 million votes, while the leading opposition candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, received 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes, respectively.
