The Kaduna State Police Command has provided an account of the tragic killing of a National Youth Service Corps member, Grace Chalya Silas, in Kaduna State.
Grace Chalya Silas lost her life in a brutal stabbing incident on a Wednesday morning in the Barnawa area of Kaduna, located in Northwest Nigeria.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the command, characterized the death of the corps member as a deeply tragic event. He explained that Grace was engaged in her usual early morning jog when she was attacked by some troublemakers riding motorcycles.
Hassan clarified that Grace Chalya Silas was a Corps member who was serving in the Kaduna South area.
When the incident was reported to the police, officers swiftly responded and arrived at the scene of the crime, where they found the victim lying in a pool of her own blood.
Hassan further stated that Grace was quickly taken to a clinic, where she was subsequently confirmed to have passed away.
He noted that upon receiving the report, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Musa Yusuf Garba, convened an emergency meeting with the high-ranking officers of the command to address the matter.
Hassan mentioned that the police command has established contact with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state. The Commissioner of Police has issued directives to the Barnawa Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the Area Commander to promptly launch an investigation to apprehend the individuals responsible for the heinous act and bring them to justice.
