The statement provided the following details: “During the Commission’s regular meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, preparations for the off-cycle Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States were reviewed, among other matters. The voter registration figures for these upcoming elections are as follows: Bayelsa State has 1,056,862 registered voters; Imo State has 2,419,922 registered voters, and Kogi State has 1,932,654 registered voters. This totals 5,409,438 registered voters across the three states.”
The statement further indicated that the complete voter registers for each state would be provided in digital format to the political parties participating in the elections, with 16 political parties sponsoring candidates in Bayelsa State, 17 in Imo State, and all 18 parties participating in Kogi State.
The event for distributing these registers to state party chairmen or their designated representatives is scheduled to take place at the Collation Centres located in the Commission’s State Headquarters in Lokoja, Owerri, and Yenagoa on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 10:00 am.
Furthermore, the voter verification exercise is set to occur simultaneously in all three states on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. INEC has once again appealed to registered voters in the designated polling units to ensure they participate in the exercise and bring their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
