Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has officially commissioned the recently refurbished Emelogu, Shallom, and Cemetery roads in Aba, with solar-powered street lighting.

During the road commissioning ceremony, Governor Otti emphasized his commitment to investing in infrastructure, as he believes that a well-developed road network is a vital catalyst for economic growth. He reassured the residents of Aba that he remains dedicated to fulfilling the promises made during his campaign.

The Governor stressed that Aba’s essential need is to enhance its infrastructure and create a conducive environment that supports both the social and economic well-being of its residents. Governor Otti pointed out that the Cemetery Market road had remained unused for two decades, and he pledged his administration’s commitment to eradicating the activities of street vendors in the markets.

Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the local residents and contractors for their unwavering support. He noted that the forthcoming addition of a water fountain at the Emelogu roundabout is part of the ongoing beautification efforts. Furthermore, he announced plans for the construction of the entire stretch from the roundabout to the Orji Uzor bridge, which is expected to be completed by year-end.

In his address, Mr. Otumchere Oti, the Commissioner for Works, emphasized that revitalizing the state’s road networks would have a positive impact on economic growth and alleviate the burdens faced by the citizens. He called upon residents to reciprocate the government’s efforts by ensuring the roads are kept clean and free from debris and drainage blockages.

Commissioner Oti also cautioned against illegal dumping in drains and obstructing roads for vehicle repairs or merchandise displays. He mentioned that the necessary legal framework to enforce these regulations is currently being established.

Various speakers, including Chief Jerry Kalu, President of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ACCIMA), and Mr. Uche Okafor, a resident of Emelogu road, commended Governor Otti for his efforts in rehabilitating the roads and assured him of the continued support of the Aba community towards his administration’s endeavors.”
