During an address to youth groups at the Government House in Bauchi, on the occasion of this year’s International Youth Day, the governor assured his commitment to enhancing Bauchi State by focusing on transforming sectors like education, healthcare, and other crucial areas that contribute to youth development. He stressed the importance of integrating sustainability into the educational curricula of schools, colleges, and universities.
Represented by his deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor emphasized that such an approach would equip educational institutions to provide knowledge that empowers young individuals to become valuable and effective members as well as leaders within society.
Discussing the theme of this year’s International Youth Day, “Green Skills for Youth,” Governor Mohammed asserted that this theme holds great significance for both the present and future generations. He emphasized that it underscores the shared responsibility of young people in promoting environmentally sustainable practices and contributing to a climate-friendly state and nation that supports economic growth and development.
Governor Mohammed pointed out that environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, and pollution require immediate action, and he urged the youth to acquire skills that enable them to mitigate the adverse impact of human activities on the environment. He conveyed his belief in the youth’s potential to make a positive difference in addressing these pressing issues.
Hajiya Hauwa Hassan Musa, the state representative in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, expressed her gratitude to Governor Mohammed for creating opportunities that enable young individuals to engage in the state’s governance.
