Local farmers across the country congratulated President-elect Aswáj Bola Tinubu on his victory in the just concluded presidential election on Saturday.
They also took advantage of the occasion to proclaim their preparedness for the change promised by the former Lagos State governor in his ‘Renewed Hope’ manifesto.
Bello Abubakar, Zonal Coordinator (North-West) of the APC presidential campaign council’s Agro Commodities Directorate, explained to journalists at the town hall in Abuja on Saturday that the President-focus elect’s on agriculture during his campaign was the motivating factor that prompted farmers in their millions to vote massively for him.
“Their commitment on agriculture from day one has encouraged and mobilised millions of farmers to vote for the ticket, and we are pleased to have won decisively,” he added. We are prepared for the coming ‘agbado and cassava’ revolution, which he predicted during the agricultural revolution. The magnificence of this country may be seen in the farm fields of rural Nigeria.
“We in the directorate also like to convey our thanks to other Nigerian farmers for coming out in-mass to vote for Asiwaju/Shettima ticket based on their view that the renewed hope manifesto is a clear pathway to peace, unity and sustainable development of Nigeria.
“We pray that the farmers mandate will never be shortened or stolen. To be clear, the mandate is based on their proven achievements in Lagos and Borno States, as well as their excellent administrative prowess over the years and sustained nationalism.”
