Governor Sheriff Oborevwori forwarded 26 nominees to the Delta State House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council. Following their successful screening on the Assembly floor, 18 out of the 26 nominees were confirmed by the lawmakers. The confirmation process took place under the leadership of Speaker Mr. Dennis Guwor on Wednesday in Asaba.
The screened nominees include individuals such as Mr. Charles Aniagwu, who served as the immediate past commissioner for Information, Mr. Samuel Oligida, Prof. Johnbull Tonukari, Mr. Isaac Wilkie, Mrs. Pat Ajudua, the immediate past Chief Whip of the Assembly, Joan Ada-Anioma, Mr. Reuben Izeze, and others who were former members of the Assembly, as well as Chief Fidelis Tilije and Mrs. Rose Ezewu, who held previous positions in the government.
During the screening, the Speaker, Mr. Guwor, congratulated the confirmed nominees and encouraged them to be dedicated to serving the state. He also commended the lawmakers for their commitment to the screening process.
Speaking on behalf of the nominees, Mr. Charles Aniagwu expressed gratitude to the governor for their nominations. He emphasized that the “MORE agenda” of the governor would undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Delta State. Aniagwu urged the people to be patient, as the MORE agenda would soon be evident across the state.
The screening process for the remaining eight nominees is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
