Pastor Williams Kumuyi, the founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, established the organization on August 3, 1973. Commemorating its 50th anniversary, the ministry held a global service at its headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos.
During the worldwide celebration, the focus was on the remarkable journey of the denomination. It originated in 1973 with a bible study involving only 15 members at Pastor Kumuyi’s official residence in Flat 2, Faculty of Education Campus, University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos. Since then, the ministry has expanded its reach, now encompassing about 5.3 million individuals across 150 countries.
In his anniversary address titled ‘Marching Forward with Fresh Vision into the Future Destiny,’ Pastor Kumuyi reflected, “The passage of 50 years marks a new beginning, a fresh platform from which to ascend to greater heights and surpass all our past achievements. We enter this phase with renewed hearts, deeper devotion, heightened consecration, and an enhanced demonstration of our love for Christ, all in the name of Jesus.”
The celebration was highlighted by several significant events. These included the launch of a book titled “Deeper Life: The Pursuit of Heaven’s Goal,” the introduction of the inaugural Deeper Life Study Bible in collaboration with the Bible Society of Nigeria, the unveiling of a 50th anniversary logo plaque on behalf of the DCLM Worldwide, the presentation of an anniversary plaque representing pastors and leaders in the church, and messages of goodwill conveyed by representatives from around the globe.
The commemorative service was graced by the presence of Pastor Kumuyi’s immediate family members, fellow church congregants, leaders, overseers both within and outside DCLM, hailing from diverse nations worldwide.
