Mavin artist, Charles Chibuezechukwu, known as Crayon, has shared that he once aspired of becoming a professional football player, but his ambition never materialized.
In a recent interview with Cool FM on Thursday, Crayon revealed that he had participated in a football trial at the National Stadium.
The singer went on to explain that he was not chosen for the opportunity. Instead, another individual was selected to take his place, primarily due to that person’s privileged background.
“I attempted to establish myself as a professional footballer; however, my efforts were unsuccessful because the football scene in Nigeria is quite intricate and uncertain,” Crayon explained. He refrained from mentioning specific names to avoid causing discomfort to certain individuals, particularly prominent figures and high-ranking officials.
He recounted an incident in which he attended a screening event in Surulere, where he was initially picked. However, the situation took a disappointing turn when he was replaced with someone who had financial means and influential connections. This experience left Crayon feeling disheartened and he returned home with a sense of depression.
