“The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal convened in Kaduna has declared the 2023 governorship election in Kaduna state as inconclusive. During the tribunal’s proceedings on Thursday, a split decision by a ratio of 2:1 declared the election inconclusive and instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election within a 90-days.
This directive comes from a three-member panel led by Justice Victor Oviawe, which has ordered a rerun of the election in 24 polling units across seven wards in four local governments, encompassing 16,300 registered voters.
The tribunal’s verdict was delivered via Zoom, as the judges did not convene physically.
It’s worth noting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Isah Mohammed Ashiru, filed the petition. PDP’s Ashiru is disputing the election of Uba Sani as the Governor of Kaduna State, alleging irregularities and electoral fraud and asserting that their candidate, Isa Mohammed Ashiru, emerged as the true winner of the election. Further details will be provided shortly…”
