Mr. Onuoha Bethrand has officially taken up his duties as the 38th Commissioner of Police assigned to the Kogi State Command. This information was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi State, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement released on Thursday. He mentioned that CP Akeem Yusuf, the previous Commissioner of Police, has been redeployed to the Research and Development unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Providing some background on the new Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Aya stated, “CP Onuoha hails from Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. He holds a BA (Hons) in History/Sociology from the University of Ife and an MA in International Relations from Ibadan. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.”
Aya described CP Onuoha as an accomplished law enforcement officer with extensive experience in various aspects of law enforcement and policing. Over the course of his more than three-decade-long career, he has completed several Tactical Leadership Courses, including Advanced Detective Course (ADC), Intermediate Command Course (ICC), and Strategic Leadership and Command Course (SLCC) in 2019.
The new Commissioner of Police has held several important command positions throughout his illustrious career, including being the First Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State Command in 1996, as well as serving as Patrol and Guard, Divisional Crime Officer, and Divisional Police Officer in various divisions within Ondo, Ekiti, and Bauchi Commands.
He has also held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) at Force CID in Ikoyi, Lagos, and Area Commander in several areas, including Ilorin Metro, Akure North, Isi-Ala Ngwa, and several other Commands in Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Abia, and Bauchi States.
Aya further emphasized that CP Onuoha possesses the necessary expertise, integrity, courage, and experience to effectively oversee the affairs of the Kogi State Police Command.
It’s worth noting that the new Commissioner of Police, Onuoha Bethrand, previously served as the Commissioner of Police, Anti-Human Trafficking, at Force CID in Abuja.
