The Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressives Union, BEPU, has reported the unfortunate passing of Malam Yakubu Muhammad Bugai, Vice-Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus-Sunnah (JIBWIS), Birnin-Gwari Branch, due to injuries sustained in a bandit attack.
According to the statement released by BEPU Chairman, Ishaq Usman Kasai, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the deceased was shot on his farm in the Rema area of Birnin-Gwari.
After being shot, Mal. Yakubu Bugai was rushed to Jibril Mai-Gwari General Hospital for medical treatment but sadly passed away shortly after admission. The statement also highlighted the significant role played by the late Yakubu Bugai in the Birnin-Gwari Orphans Foundation, where he devoted himself to caring for numerous orphans left behind by victims of armed banditry in the region.
BEPU further lamented the ongoing incidents of abductions and kidnappings of innocent farmers in the Local Government, urging the Federal Government to establish military detachments in strategic locations such as Katakaki, Gagumi, Tashar-Keji, and Bugai axis of the Western part of Birnin-Gwari to enhance security and protect the lives and livelihoods of the residents.
