For various misconducts all through their service year, 10 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Bauchi State will have their service year extended for at least three weeks or one month.
Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, said this on Thursday.
She said that the misconducts included truancy and abscondment throughout their service year, emphasizing that the program had zero tolerance for truancy and would not hesitate to punish any erring corps member.
In the state, 401 corps members from the 22 Batch B stream II passed out, with 269 males and 132 females.
The Bauchi state government awarded four corps members with merit awards.
According to her, the corps members were recognized for significantly improving the lives members of their host communities via meaningful Community Development Projects and Services carried out throughout their service year.
She further said the corps members had written their names in the NYSC good book, asking them to keep the spirit alive even after their service year is over.
“Those of you who are participating in the post-skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development training should ensure that you complete your training because it will help you become labour employers.”
“Those of you who have not learned any skills can start doing so with the last allowance you received.”
“Your parents want to see you doing something, however small. “It’s better than staying at home doing nothing,” she said.
