The Nigerian Army has formally disassociated itself from the security organization formed by former Niger Delta militant leader, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo.
The Army has made it clear that it has no collaboration or connection with Dokubo’s privately established military company.
Notably, Dokubo recently launched his private military company, which purportedly received a government contract to work alongside the military in certain states.
However, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the accuracy of Dokubo’s assertion could only be verified by the relevant regulatory body tasked with licensing such entities.
In an official statement, Nwachukwu affirmed that the Nigerian Army has never engaged in any operations alongside Dokubo’s private company.
According to Nwachukwu: “Based on his interview, Dokubo claims ownership of a private military company engaged by the Nigerian government. Nonetheless, it is essential to clarify that the Nigerian Army has no form of partnership or cooperative arrangement with the former militant or any private security entity he alleges to own.”
Nwachukwu emphasized that contrary to Dokubo’s claims, the Nigerian Army has never participated in any operations jointly or in conjunction with Asari or the organization he represents, neither in the mentioned areas nor within any operational context associated with Asari Dokubo.
