Joy Maduka, the Head of Service (HoS) for Abia State, has initiated the commencement of the physical verification process within the state’s civil service. She emphasized that there will be no allowances for fictitious employees or individuals manipulating their ages.
Speaking during the physical verification event for Abia State civil servants at the Umuahia International Conference Centre, Maduka clarified that this initiation follows the recent online verification conducted by the state government.
She underlined that the primary goal of this exercise is not to target or unfairly treat any civil servant. Rather, it stems from Governor Alex Otti’s vision to overhaul the system, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in service provision.
Maduka, who was the first to undergo the verification process, outlined several benefits arising from this verification, including timely disbursement of salaries and rightful benefits, as well as a seamless transition into retirement.
Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of the verification in preventing the manipulation of ages by those nearing retirement age. This measure will ensure that individuals retire when appropriate.
Joy Maduka encouraged all Abia civil servants to actively participate in the verification process, assuring them that the results would be rewarding. She also expressed confidence that the pension crises encountered previously in the state would be resolved through this verification process.
Additionally, Maduka informed that the verification process is concurrently taking place across all 17 Local Government Areas within Abia State.
