80 percent of Israel are Jews- Ibrahim Modibo

Ibrahim Modibo, a prominent member of the APC, emphasized that Israel is not a Christian nation and that approximately eighty percent of its population comprises Jews. He further pointed out that although there are small communities of Muslims and Christians in Israel, Palestine is primarily inhabited by Muslims, with a Christian minority.

Modibo expressed these views during an interview with AIT in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict. He also stressed the importance of Nigeria reducing the influence of religion in its political landscape and fostering a spirit of mutual acceptance. He noted that issues tied to religion, ethnicity, and land have historically been significant factors contributing to unrest in various nations, including Israel and Palestine.

In Modibo’s words: “Even in the ongoing crisis between Palestine and Israel, the core problem lies in a lack of accommodation. It’s important to recognize that Israel is not a Christian state; around 80 percent of its population is Jewish. Christians represent a small minority, and there are also Muslims living there in smaller numbers. In Palestine, the majority are Muslims, but there is also a Christian community. Hence, the fundamental and paramount issue is the need for accommodation.”
