Following Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma’s confession that she faked on her UTME score, the chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, announced that the scholarship he offered her has been withdrawn.
This occurred when Mmesoma’s father, Romanus Ejikeme, tendered an unreserved apology to JAMB and Nigerians for his daughter’s unfortunate action.
Chukwuma stated that he had already put N3 million into a special account for Mmesoma’s university education upon hearing that she had scored top in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, examination.
“In recent days, we have been involved in the process of investigating allegations surrounding the 2023 UTME examination results of one of our scholarship recipients, Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme,” stated Cornel Osigwe, Innoson Group Head of Corporate Communications & Affairs.
“Initially, it was reported that Miss Joy performed exceptionally well on the exam, earning her a scholarship from our company.”
“However, subsequent reports of discrepancies in her UTME score prompted us to seek clarification from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and we engaged in direct dialogue with Miss Joy to allow her to voice her stance.”
Furthermore, a committee set up by Anambra State Governor, Dr. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, conducted a thorough independent investigation into this matter.”
“The results of this thorough investigation have now confirmed that Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme tampered with her UTME results.” This finding is profoundly disheartening and goes against the principles that we hold dear at Innoson Vehicles, particularly those that underpin our scholarship program.
“In accordance with these principles and in response to the confirmed findings, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme’s scholarship.” This action demonstrates our unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition.
