Former President Goodluck Jonathan has advised Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, that whomever becomes the next president must endeavor to bring the country together.
President Jonathan made the remarks on Friday during a courtesy visit to Obi at his residence in Bayelsa State.
Obi was visited the state to solicit support from citizens for the presidential election in 2023.
The former president also stated that Nigerians must trust in the nation’s unity in order to go forward.
“Today I met in audience members of the Presidential Campaign Council of the @NgLabour led by its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi,” he said on his verified Twitter account.
“I underlined that in order to bring Nigeria ahead, we must all recognize it as our own country and believe in the nation’s unity.”
“Whoever becomes the next president must endeavor to bring the country together.”
I also emphasized the need of a credible election and asked the Labour Party, as well as all other parties and supporters, to conduct their campaigns peacefully.”
