The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has extended the deadline for obtaining Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, across the country.
During a meeting with RECs from the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on Friday, the Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, stated that the Commission will not hesitate to consider additional measures to ensure that all citizens have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the general election.
After reviewing reports from all of the Federation’s states, the Commission stated that it was encouraged by the progress made thus far, as more Nigerians troop out daily to collect their PVCs.
As a result, the Commission extended the collecting of PVCs in all of its local government offices by one week.
“The continuing collecting of PVCs nationally will so continue and finish on 5th February 2023,” said Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.
