The newly crowned Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, has urged the town’s residents to set aside their grievances and embrace peace. He also urged them to collaborate with him in the development of the town, emphasizing that his desire for the throne was not driven by a pursuit of wealth or fame.
Oba Olaoye conveyed these sentiments during his coronation ceremony, which was attended by a multitude of Ogbomoso’s inhabitants. In his inaugural address, he articulated his aspiration to elevate Ogbomoso to its rightful position.
Recalling that Olaoye was officially installed as the new Soun of Ogbomoso by the kingmakers, led by the Are Ago of Ogbomoso, High Chief Solalaje Otolorin, he further expressed that he considers himself a divine appointment meant to rejuvenate the city and contribute to its advancement.
He stated, “Ogbomoso will undergo a transformation. It will distinguish itself in terms of development and peace. This marks a new era in Ogbomosoland. A new light has dawned, and a new era of prosperity has arrived.
Many are aware of the challenges and trials we have faced, but we are leaving those behind. To those who are aggrieved, let us unite for the betterment of Ogbomosoland. Let us come together to propel Ogbomoso forward, and let us renounce violence. If we truly love this city, we will rebuild it together. I have been sent by God to rebuild this city and work for its progress.”
“We have not come to the throne for personal wealth, as God has already blessed us in that regard, nor have we sought fame, for God has granted us that privilege. Our objective is to restore Ogbomoso to its rightful position. I assure you that we will make Ogbomoso even greater. Our work in Ogbomoso commences today, and with it, the city’s development begins.
A new era of glory has been ushered in. Positive changes are on the horizon, including the establishment of industries, not just one, but many. God will bless us abundantly. I am not one to speak extensively; it is our actions that you will see. What did I say? You will witness it, in the name of the Lord.”
