The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, has pledged his support to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its efforts to combat illegal mining activities in Oyo State.
The monarch made this commitment during a familiarization visit by the Acting Zonal Commander of the Ibadan Command of the EFCC, Halima Mustafa Rufa’u, to his palace on Tuesday.
Oba Balogun acknowledged that the EFCC has been actively addressing the issue of illegal mining activities in the state and expressed his approval for their efforts. He assured the commission of his full support, along with the backing of all the traditional chiefs in Ibadan, to put an end to these unlawful activities.
During the visit, Rufa’u, in her response, assured the monarch that the Ibadan Commission of the EFCC would intensify its efforts to tackle the menace of cybercrime in the state. The collaborative efforts of the traditional authorities and the EFCC are expected to contribute significantly to curbing illegal mining and other criminal activities in the region.
