Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Honorable Femi Gbajiabiamila, has submitted the remaining list of Ministerial Nominees to the Chamber’s President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The list includes nominees from the eleven states that were yet to have a ministerial slot. To allow Gbajiabiamila to present the list, the Senate invoked Order 12(i) and permitted his entry into the chamber at 3.15 pm.

Before the Chief of Staff entered the Chamber, ministerial nominee Lateef Fagbemi from Kwara was standing before the Senators for screening.

The Senate has entered the third day of screening the Ministerial Nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu for confirmation. Last week, President Tinubu submitted a list of twenty-eight nominees to the Senate for screening. On Monday, fourteen nominees were screened, and today, the Senate is set to attend to another fourteen.

The Order Paper for today’s screening listed five nominees: Dele Alake (Ekiti); Muhammad Idris (Niger); Professor Ali Pate Bauchi; Doris Anite Uzoka (Imo); and Lateef Fagbemi SAN (Kwara).

During the screening exercise, Dele Alake, the first nominee to appear, raised concerns about the misuse of social media in Nigeria. He urged the National Assembly to amend existing laws to regulate social media and curb the spread of fake and inaccurate information.

Muhammad Idris from Niger State was also screened today, while Fagbemi is currently being questioned by the Senators.
