Edo 2024: Guber aspirant, Azemhe joins NNPP weeks after dumping LP

Dr Azemhe Azena

Pastor Azemhe Azena, formerly associated with the Labour Party, has switched allegiance to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). Two weeks ago, the gubernatorial aspirant in Edo State parted ways with the Labour Party, citing alleged mistreatment of himself and his supporters during his state-wide tour by Michael Onaivi, the Akoko-Edo Local Government chairman.

In a letter dated January 27, 2024, addressed to the Ward 10 Chairman of the Labour Party in Okpekpe, Etsako-East Local Government Area, Azemhe officially resigned from the party. On Tuesday in Benin, he formally joined NNPP, expressing his intent to contest the September 21, 2024, gubernatorial election.

As the Pastor in Charge of the Omega Fire Ministries, Southern Region, Benin City, Azemhe emphasized his commitment to bringing leadership and community engagement experience to address critical issues, particularly in the realm of food security, within the NNPP. He stated that his decision to join the party aligns with his dedication to principles of good governance, transparency, and grassroots development.

The NNPP gubernatorial aspirant pledged to contribute positively to Edo State and urged the people of the state to collaborate with the New Nigeria People’s Party to construct an economically prosperous state.
