BSUTH takes over Muhammadu Buhari hospital in Makurdi

Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital

The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) is set to assume control of the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital in Makurdi.

The decision was announced by Dr. Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, during an interactive session with journalists in Makurdi on Friday. The primary objective of this transition, which is scheduled to begin offering services on November 1, is to establish the hospital as the central hub for high-quality healthcare in the state.

Dr. Hwande emphasized that the healthcare professionals at the hospital are well-prepared, possessing top-notch knowledge and world-class equipment to deliver the best services in the state. The move to have BSUTH take over the hospital is essential to ensure that people no longer have to travel elsewhere to seek medical attention.

Starting from March next year, the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital will introduce in-vitro fertilization (IVF) services and treatment for infertility cases.

Additionally, Dr. Hwande revealed that antenatal patient cards and cards for children under five years will be provided free of charge until the end of the year, as part of the initiative to make quality healthcare more accessible to a broader segment of the population.
