Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has unveiled the selection of three senators hailing from Oyo State who will lead various standing committees within the 10th Assembly.
These three senators are Sharafadeen Alli, Yunus Akintunde, and Abdulfatai Buhari.
In accordance with reports, both Alli and Akintunde are newcomers to the legislative arena, while Buhari boasts his third consecutive term as a senator in the upper house.
This trio secured their positions under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the February 25, 2023 elections.
To delineate their representation, Alli covers Oyo South, whereas Akintunde and Buhari advocate for Oyo Central and Oyo North, respectively.
During the Monday night announcement of committee chairpersons in the Senate, the Senate President designated Alli as the head of the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), additionally entrusting him as the deputy chair of the Senate Committee on Customs.
Akintunde’s role emerged as the chairperson for the Senate Committee on Environment, while Buhari takes the helm of the Committee on Aviation.
